Golikova Valeria Gennadievna

- Good afternoon, Valeria! I would like to ask you a couple of questions, as a graduate of the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Moscow City Pedagogical University 2021, about how your life turned out after graduation.

- Good afternoon! Of course, I will be happy to answer.

1. The first and most important question: have you managed to find a job in your specialty, maybe you teach French or another foreign language?

- Yes, I work as a teacher of French and English in one of the linguistic centers and I am very happy about it because I was really looking forward to getting experience in this field.

2. How long did the job search itself take you and was it easy to find it at all?

- To be honest, the job search for me personally did not take a lot of time, we managed to find a suitable place within a month, and there were more than enough offers, i.e. there was a choice.

3. Are you continuing your Master's degree studies?

– No, this year I decided to wait, next year I plan to enter the master's program, I just hope to continue my studies.

4. We hope that your plans will come true and you will successfully enroll in the direction of the magistracy that you will be interested in! However, why did you choose MCU IFL?

- Firstly, from the very beginning I was very impressed by the admission campaign and the opportunity to study 2 languages. And secondly, the pedagogical direction itself was of interest and aroused my curiosity.

5. How satisfied are you with your education?

– I can say with confidence that many skills and experience gained during university years have played a key role in the implementation of labor activity. With the accumulated knowledge, I felt confident and did not experience difficulties in the professional field, and this is incredibly valuable.

6. In your opinion, what qualities should a future graduate or student have in order to get a job in their specialty?

- First of all – enthusiasm, desire to develop in the chosen field. A graduate should not only speak a foreign language, but also be a comprehensively developed personality. Stress resistance, equanimity, calmness (the teaching profession requires this more than ever). The ability to find a common language with a representative of any age group, goodwill. And of course, responsibility and hard work!

7. What, in your opinion, from the university curriculum helped you most to adapt to your professional activities?

– It seems to me, the methodology of teaching foreign languages, the history of the language, stylistics, age psychology and Latin. The biggest influence on me was the various scientific conferences and speeches that I took part in during my studies.

8. As part of their studies at the MCU IFL, students are given the opportunity to take part in internships abroad. Have you ever had such a desire? Maybe you have interned? Please share your experience.

- Of course I took part in the internship! It was held in Nice. It was a short trip (about 10 days), but it was enough to gain a wealth of experience and improve language skills. The training took place with a native speaker and due to living in a host French family, it was possible to fully immerse yourself in an authentic environment.
