Bajkina Ekaterina Vadimovna

Hello, Ekaterina! Could you share your impressions of studying in the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Moscow City University and tell us a little of your life after graduation?

- Hello, sure!

1. Do you work within your specialty ? (Where else, if no ?)

-   I work as a resource planning manager in Renault Russie.

2. Do you teach French or the second foreign language that you’ve picked up in university ?

-   I taught French for about a year after graduation.

3.     How long did it take you to find a job ? Was it easy ?

-   I had only two job interviews in life: after one I was hired for my first job at a foreign language course, and after the second I immediately got a job at Renault. So I didn’t even have a  stage of job search.

4.    Are you currently engaged in scientific activity? Are you currently pursuing your studies (Master's, PhD) ? Do you manage to combine it with your work ?

-   After graduation from Moscow City Pedagogical University I got the Master’s degree in Intercultural communication in Moscow Pedagogical State University. I managed to combine my studies with work 3 days a week. The last six month of studying I had an opportunity to work five days a week.

5.    What were your plans for your career when you graduated, and did they coincide with reality ?

-       At the beginning I had the wrong opinion that I could only apply for growth in the humanitarian sphere. However, in reality I work in the automotive industry, where I can also use my skills.

6.   Why did you decide to enter the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Moscow City Pedagogical University in particular ?

-     I liked the description of the educational program, namely the opportunity to master French at a professional level from scratch.

7.   How satisfied are you with the education you received there ?

-       I always fondly recall my studies in university. The professors put a lot of work into it.

8.   In your opinion, what qualities should a student (future graduate) have in order to get a job within the specialty ?

-       The main thing is to enjoy what you do, be able to motivate others and be motivated yourself.

9.   What do you think has helped you the most from the university’s curriculum in adapting to professional life?

-       In the first place, knowledge of two foreign languages. Also, universal skills such as analysis, synthesis, the ability to structure information, the ability to present and explain in an accessible way - are extremely important.

10.  Have you ever wanted to take part in an internship ? Maybe you have managed to get it ? Tell us briefly about the countries you have visited and the experiences you have gained.

-       After the first and second years I went on an internship in Bordeaux at the Alliance Française Bordeaux Aquitaine language school for 1 month. It was my personal initiative. I managed to meet the students from around the world and significantly improve my spoken French through daily communication.

11.   What would you wish for your university ?

-       I would wish the university to be a stepping stone to a successful future for every student.
